Liverpool-based cancer support charity Liverpool Sunflowers is teaming up with Radio City’s Cash for Kids.
In the coming months, the charities will be working together on a series of Cash for Kids fundraising events, the first of which will be a Crazy Triathlon at Formby Pools, held as part of Rossie’s 24 Hour Fundraising Marathon in September.
Cash for Kids, the official charity of Radio City, provides a helping hand to disabled and disadvantaged children in Liverpool and the surrounding areas by making thousands of pounds available for grants to children’s charities and causes.
Liverpool Sunflowers, based on Aigburth Road, provides advice, counseling, alternative therapies and group support sessions for cancer sufferers, and their families and carers. The service is confidential, free and led by a team of professionals.
Joan Elmer, project director at Liverpool Sunflowers explains, “At Liverpool Sunflowers we provide services for people of all ages, including children and young people who have been affected by cancer in some way.
“Cancer can affect young people in a particularly severe way, and we want to provide the best possible support to more young people who are suffering from cancer, or whose lives are affected by a family member with cancer.
“We are incredibly grateful for this additional support from Cash for Kids, and are absolutely thrilled to be working with them.”
Carol Carole from Cash for Kids added, “Cash for Kids exists to help young people in our community who are affected by all kinds of issues, and we are delighted to be able to do this by supporting Sunflowers, which does some incredibly valuable work amongst local families who are battling cancer.”
The first Cash for Kids event that will benefit Sunflowers is the 24 Hour Fundraising Marathon, which includes the first ever Crazy Triathlon.
Taking place at Formby Pools on September 23, Sunflowers is now looking for ten teams of five children and five adults to take part, who can each raise a minimum sponsorship of £50 per person on behalf of the charity.
